Red Velvet Cake Pops, and Fuschia Dahlias

I had a great time at the Pottery Barn Bridal Registry Party last night, at Bellevue Square. It was a reunion of sorts, as I got to spend time with the same group of friends and fellow wedding professionals that took part in the last registry event at PB. Loren and Kim from Alante Photography were there, as was Rebecca Grant of New Creations (along with her new apprentice, the lovely Alyssa, whose wedding cake I made back in April!). I didn't get to meet Anne Bradfield of Floressence, but her floral arrangements were magnificent!

I made mini Vanilla Buttermilk cupcakes with white-chocolate cream-cheese frosting, and Red Velvet cake pops coated in white chocolate (tinted a peachy-pink shade). There were no leftovers for me to bring home; I think that's a good sign...

I piped various designs onto the cake pops using white Royal Icing; I think the little gumpaste cherry blossoms look sweet, too!

Last week, I made dozens of sugar flowers in preparation for upcoming wedding cakes. Among my creations were three dahlias, made from fuschia gumpaste, which will make their grand appearance on Kruti and Pritesh's cake this Sunday (July 1st). I guess the photo (below) constitutes a 'sneak peek' at their cake! Oh, and please do check back here early next week for the actual cake, with its paisley-inspired side designs and fuschia ribbon trim.

Dahlias are SO time-consuming to make, but so rewarding. Enjoy your weekend, dear readers!
