Royal Purple Peonies and an Edible Brooch

I delivered this cake to The Antheia Ballroom in Snohomish last Friday afternoon, for Krystle and Mike's wedding. What a sweet couple! Our consultation took place many months ago, and they booked their cake on the spot. I loved working with them, and they gave me the opportunity to make some of my favorite sugar flowers (including closed peonies in an amazing shade of purple to match the bridesmaid's dresses and groomsmen's waistcoats).

The cake was three tiers of delicious Peanut Butter Cup cake (chocolate sponge filled with peanut-butter Swiss meringue buttercream and chopped Reese's cups), and served 90 people generously.

All the adornments on the cake were edible (the silver brooch, the royal purple sash and bow, and the sugar flower topper of peonies, peony foliage, and sweet peas).

I received a wonderful e-mail from the bride yesterday. She said: "The cake was BEAUTIFUL you truly do amazing work! I was so very happy with the way it turned out. Not to mention it was so yummy! I almost didn't want to share but luckily the large portions made it a little easier. My guests raved about it all night!!! Thank you so much for everything Carla, it was absolutely amazing and so much more than I expected!!!"  Made my day.
