The Butterfly Princess

On Tessaleigh's first birthday, August 13th, I delivered a vanilla poundcake with strawberry cream cheese filling, layered with fresh strawberries.  Her mama wanted purple-tinted marshmallow fondant and some bright pastel butterflies on the sides in shades of blue, green and yellow. She also requested a pastel pink princess crown, which I made from gumpaste and dusted with edible pearl luster.  The trim along the base is grosgrain ribbon in the prettiest-ever shade of purple.  I hear that the cake was a hit, and Tessaleigh's mama sent me a photo on my cellphone of the little cutie-pie eating her cake (apparently she ate her whole piece, including the fondant!).
