Wedding cakes aplenty! And a note about bookings

It's been a busy few weeks in the cake studio.  Still no bulb for my lightbox (darn!) - I'm working on it.  There are some really eclectic cakes on the books for this spring/summer.  They're all highly individual, ranging from Celtic knotwork to vintage pearls, to handpainted lace and peacock feathers. There's a tiramisu cake with chocolate panels, and a huge, stacked strawberry cheesecake. Somewhere in the mix is a four-tier beauty with a LOT of handmade sugar flowers - fun!  Pearls and simple monograms abound in the designs, and the colors range from pastel to saturated jewel-tones.  Popular flowers seem to be peonies, poppies, cymbidium orchids, spider mums, and stephanotis - either applied to the cake as a 2D cutout, or in three magnificent dimensions, as a cake topper or offset against each tier.  It's been huge fun getting to know all the beautiful couples (and their families) in our personal consultations. The design consultation is one of the best parts of the job, for me.

A note to Summer brides in Eugene/Springfield and surrounds:
Several dates are completely booked out for wedding cakes. They are: April 16-17, May 7, May 14-15, May 29, June 4, June 18-19, July 9-10, July 23-24, August 6, August 13.  If we haven't booked your cake for those dates (or at least blocked off your event day in our calendar), then we'd be happy to recommend other wonderful bakers in the Eugene/Portland area.
